Brexit is a source of great anxiety amongst European citizens residing in the UK, and of British expats residing in the EU.
The ‘muddled’ waters attached to Theresa May government strategy, the temptations to instrumentalise EU citizens as part of the Brexit negotiations, the increased difficulty to gain permanent residency status in the UK and the voice of millions of British leaving on the continent silenced during the referendum contribute to this climate.
This debate will aim to take stock of the political actions in the UK and the EU to protect EU residents, to put some European perspective and to hear your concerns and comments so that they can be escalated.
The panellists are
- Baroness Sarah Ludford, House of Lords, LibDem spoke-woman on Brexit, ex MEP
- Alex Taylor, journalist and radio/TV producer, based in Paris for the last 30 years and the ultimate Europhile (he is known as Mr Europe in France)
BBC foreign correspondent Humphrey Hawksley will be chairing the conversation.
